This walk debuted two of the new-to-science species of Inocybe that Sigrid Jakob published in her stellar journal article "Six newly described Inocybaceae from North America." They are Inocybe commuis and Inocybe lincoffii, which was named in honor of Gary Lincoff. In the part of the paper covering the I. lincoffii etymology, Sigrid wrote: Named in honor of Gary Lincoff (1942- 2018), American mycologist, author, and longtime New Yorker, who made outstanding contributions to public engagement with fungi; the epithet is especially apt as the species has thus far been found almost exclusively in New York City. ~18 people on a ~3.5 hr. walk
